PELLYVISION is a monthly collision of sound and vision. Alex Pelly creates live video to accompany sounds from an artist of her choosing. This episode features a live performance and various recordings from Conscious Summary, a noise/ambient act based in Los Angeles by Samur Khouja. Often using an array of homemade electronics, organic materials and processed sounds, Conscious Summary produces a soundscape that is intense and intricate. Samur is also a sound designer, engineer and producer who has worked with acts like Cate Le Bon, Ariel Pink and Devendra Banhart through his studio Seahorse Sound Studios. Above Seahorse, he runs (the) Handbag Factory, an experimental gallery in downtown Los Angeles and cultural hub for experimental musicians and art. Conscious Summary currently has a full length cassette "Exhautions" on Skintrade Recordings and a self released collaborative 7'' with American noise act BASTARD NOISE. Alex Pelly is a filmmaker and video artist based in Los Angeles. She is currently immersed in video art that blends analog feedback and processing, modular video synthesis and digital animation. She came up through the creative community surrounding DUBLAB, and continues to do live visuals for many DUBLAB events. She is resident visualist for underground techno party Perpetual Dawn and industrial dance club Das Bunker, she designs projections for improvisational noise duo Telecaves, and provides live visuals and installation work for various shows, music nights and art happenings around Los Angeles.
